Steps Toward Neighborhood Mission by Ed Stetzer

Every good pastor wants to see people in the church grow to be missionaries in their neighborhoods. Wanting it and preaching about it gets us only so far. Helping our people do it is key. We need to give our people simple tools to illuminate the pathway into mission.

That’s what Steps Toward Neighborhood Mission is…a simple, practical tool to ignite a spark in your congregation, your small group, or among your own family and in your household. It’s a practical guide to help you think strategically about your home and the neighbors around you. God has called you to this mission!

The Dark Side of Resilience

In sum, there is no doubt that resilience is a useful and highly adaptive trait, especially in the face of traumatic events. However, when taken too far, it may focus individuals on impossible goals and make them unnecessarily tolerant of unpleasant or counterproductive circumstances. And while it may be reassuring for teams, organizations, and countries to select leaders on the basis of their resilience — who doesn’t want to be protected by a tough and strong leader? — such leaders are not necessarily good for the group, much like bacteria or parasites are much more problematic when they are more resistant.

Pursuing a Deeper Dialogue on Race | Mike's Story

We met up for dinner and had a chance to have a deeper dialogue, ask questions, and share our stories regarding race. Leading up to meeting Ryan for dinner, I was excited but also a little nervous. This would be the first time that I was having an intentional conversation pressing into the topic of race with someone from within the church (outside of a few conversations here and there). God would quickly show that he would bear much fruit from our time together.
