Network Spotlight: Four Oaks East
We are thankful and excited when new church plants become part of our network family! We want to give a heartfelt welcome to Four Oaks East, along with lead pastor Joshua Hughes and his wife Katie, who are located in Tallahassee, Florida. We are pleased to be able to share a little bit of their story!
Four Oaks began as a Bible study in a small Tallahassee apartment 1990. Nearly three decades later, the vision that birthed the church continues to form and fuel members: the good news of Jesus changes everything.
The journey together has gathered the church in homes, storefronts, warehouses, cafeterias, and rented auditoriums as they have sought to learn the ways of Jesus Christ together. The church now exists in three unified, interdependent congregations throughout Tallahassee. Convinced that vibrant local congregations are critical to the faith of believers and the flourishing of a city, Four Oaks exists to treasure, grow, and go in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Below are some key wins and prayer requests for Four Oaks East in 2019:
Key wins for Four Oaks East:
The first public service was held on February 10th, 2019 and they have seen a steady stream of new people come in from the neighborhood.
They have been able to make significant contributions serving the school where they gather on Sundays, which is a lower-income school.
One of the members, named Jay, who lives in the neighborhood behind the school, has been meeting with a local kid named Jalen who dropped out of high school. Jay helped him finish his GED, and Jalen was asked to speak at the graduation ceremony.
There are a significant number of ethnic minorities gathering on Sundays.
For continued favor with their neighbors, and for salvations among those who have been gathering with the church.
For God to lead them into strategic ways of continuing to develop a multi-ethnic community.
For God to raise up a church planter from Four Oaks East for the south side of Tallahassee.
