Early Preachers Cohort

Cohort Overview

Cohort Images (10).png

During the first few years of preaching, the early preacher cultivates habits that will either elevate or undermine his longevity and potency as a preacher. This cohort is designed to re-examine the preachers heart, goals, and delivery since he has now experienced ministry outside of the homiletics class. Special attention will be given to sermon organization, the role of application, and the desperate need for, in the words of D. Martyn Lloyd Jones, ‘the Sacred Anointing’.

Intended Outcomes

  1. Each participant should better understand the link between the heart and the sermon.

  2. Each participant should better understand the relationship between good mechanics and effective sermons.

  3. Each participant should experience the benefits of two sermon evaluations (one based upon a video and one live preaching opportunity). Participants should join expecting sermon critique and desiring to respond humbly when it comes.
  4. Each participant should enjoy the camaraderie, encouragement, and new network connections that flows from cohort participation.
