Everyone has a family. And every family has a story. This Is Sojourn Network chronicles the journey of a family of pastors and churches through the years and across the country. These conversations are grounded in real relationships and demonstrate how the collaboration we share with each other in the gospel can transcend culture, distance, and even death. This is our family. We invite you in. It’s little, and broken, and beautiful. This is Sojourn Network.

About the Hosts

Nick and Kim Bogardus

Kim Bogardus' personality and life are inseparable from her strengths as a leader, coach, and speaker.

Having lived and traveled broadly Kim naturally connects to people's stories and draws out the best in them in a way that is faithful and authentic. She has a degree in Communications from Azusa Pacific University and completed the Soul Care Institute with Crosspointe Ministry. She has spoken for groups like The Gospel Coalition, women’s groups from large churches, coached women in the workplace and in local churches, and is currently serving women in Sojourn Network.

Kim grew up in Texas and is still a hillbilly at heart. She loves to cook and bake and she can be heard reading very animatedly to her kiddos each night.

Nick brings an accomplished and diverse background and a pastoral heart to his leading, coaching, and teaching. Nick has experienced success as a marketplace leader, an adjunct teacher at a university, a Director-level leader at a megachurch, and a planter and lead pastor of two churches. He is passionate about helping other leaders grow in self-awareness, team dynamics, and leading through change.

Nick is currently the lead pastor of Cross of Christ Church, recently was the Pastor-in-Residence for Biola University’s Center for Christian Thought and completed the Soul Care Institute with CrossPointe Ministry. He previously completed the pastoral leadership program at the Resurgence Training Center and did his church planting residency through Fellowship Associates in Little Rock.

A native of Orange County, California, Nick spent a decade in the music industry. Eight of those years he ran New Noise Management, an artist management company that oversaw the careers of bands like Thrice, Cold War Kids, and Matt Costa.  He and his team developed the artists from the garage to major labels, performing on the main stage at festivals like Coachella and Sasquatch, and appearing on late night shows Letterman, Leno, and Conan O’Brien.

He took his experience to Biola University as an adjunct teacher, creating and teaching the school’s first music management class which then went on to be adapted for UCLA's Extension Program.

He has also been the Media and Public Relations specialist for the Belief Agency in Seattle where he’s worked on crisis communications and communication strategy for private companies and has consulted for churches.

Prior to planting, Nick was the Media & Public Relations Director for Mark Driscoll and Mars Hill during the height of the church from 2009-2011. In that role, Nick oversaw communications for Mars Hill, Acts 29, and the Resurgence, secured Mark a regular column in the Washington Post, garnered coverage by CNN, ABC, Dateline, local news, and Loveline w/ Dr. Drew, as well as acted as an on-camera spokesman.

Nick loves to surf, 90s and early 2000's independent music, cooking over live fire and has a love/hate relationship with trail running and USC football.
